Finance Intern
Partners for Development (PfD) is currently recruiting a finance/accounting intern for fall 2018. Interns at PfD are an integral part of the team and will have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience in the field of international development. The Finance Intern will work directly with our Senior accountant.
Job Description:
Because PfD is a small office, we put a premium on candidates who are self-reliant and excellent problem-solvers.
Specific Duties may include:
- Assisting with accounting journal entries, accounts payables and payroll
- Assisting with the development of systems and tools related to financial grant or financial project management.
- Updating budget tracking tools
- Assisting with various administrative duties
Qualifications:
- Masters candidate or advanced degree candidate in finance or accounting preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated interest in international relief and development
- Excellent communications skills, oral and written

Consultant Technical Area Specialists/Proposal Writers
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking CVs from qualified proposal writers with expertise in one or more of the technical areas listed below for expected new business opportunities worldwide. Proposal writers should have a proven track record and strong expertise in writing winning bids and proposals for international donors as well as foundations, in addition to practical experience in the developing world. Proposal writers will work closely with PfD’s new business team and country teams, as appropriate, to produce competitive proposals. PfD is seeking writers who are available on short notice for often intense, but limited periods of work, as well as for international travel, as required, as well as remote work.
Key qualifications include:
Required:
- Proven experience writing winning proposals for projects funded by USAID and at least one of the following other donors: USDA, DFID, AfDB, ADB, the World Bank or private foundations.
- Technical expertise including an advanced degree in one or more of the following areas: maternal and child health, reproductive health, WASH, nutrition, food aid and livelihoods.
- At least 5 years’ experience in proposal writing and project implementation in developing countries
- Strong knowledge of donor specific procurement vehicles and requirements
- Strong organizational and time management ability, and proven ability to adhere to and work successfully under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required.
Preferred:
- Experience working in Africa and/or Southeast Asia preferred
- Practical experience in food aid program implementation
- Second language ability, particularly in French, a plus but not required.

Economic Empowerment Advisor
Job Summary:
The Economic Empowerment Advisor will be responsible for leading on PfD’s role in economic empowerment related projects. The Economic Empowerment Advisor will oversee and consult on technical aspects of program implementation and capacity building.
Job Description:
- Provide technical input in program development and implementation and contribute to future economic empowerment program design and development.
- Assist in writing and review of technical sections of proposals
- Answer necessary technical questions or clarifications as they arise from the stakeholders.
- Expand women’s leadership, participation and economic engagement.
- Support resource mobilization efforts within the program and other initiatives to advance PfD’s work.
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of a participatory M&E system.
- Ensure that all activities are consistent with internationally recognized best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Relevant graduate degree.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in economic empowerment programs with at least five years in developing countries with demonstrated expertise in providing technical assistance and training to programs.
- Minimum of five years of program management experience for projects funded by USAID and other USG agencies, with experience liaising with senior host government and international officials and donor organizations.
- Requires in-depth understanding of women’s empowerment programs and vision.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation of economic programs with experience in presenting findings, results and lessons learned to international audiences.
- Well motivated, team member able to work alone and/or without supervision, able to make sound decisions independently.
- Commitment to mission- and values-driven work environment.
Reports to:
Director of Development and Communication and will work closely with other staff and consultants.
Location: This consultant can work out of the PfD Silver Spring office or from their home. Travel may be requested, but will be jointly agree on by consultant and PfD.
